Switching on the HazMat mode
1. Turn on the communication unit.
2. Keep the ON/OFF button pressed for approx. 8 seconds. Ignore
the shut-off signal when doing this.
An
optical
and
an
acoustic
communication unit is in HazMat mode.
The voice amplifier unit is switched off, the radio connection is still
working.

Adjusting the volume
NOTICE

Press and hold the volume controller for half a second each
time. Simply touching it does not change the setting.
To increase the volume, press the volume controller repeatedly
forward until the desired level is reached.
To reduce the volume, press the volume controller repeatedly
backward until the desired level is reached.
An acoustic signal indicates that the volume has been adjusted.
Another acoustic signal indicates that no further volume level is
available.

Press and hold the group selector switch for half a second
each time. Simply touching it does not change the setting.
Press the group selector switch repeatedly until the desired group
is selected.
The respective group is announced.

Configuring the communication unit
1. Fit the insert for the configuration cable.
2. Plug the configuration cable into a USB port on the PC.
3. Start the software on the PC.
An explanation how to operate the software is provided in the help
pages of the software.
3.2

Preparations before first use

1. If required, fit the correct insert (see chap. 3.2.1 on page 13).
2. Insert the batteries (see chap. 5.3.1 on page 18).
3. Attach the communication unit to the full facepiece (see
chap. 3.2.2 on page 14).
CAUTION

During assembly, the specified torques must be observed.
The communication unit could otherwise be damaged.
Use suitable tools!
3.2.1
Fitting an insert
NOTICE

Only use the communication unit when an insert has been fitted!
If the radio connector cable is not used (e.g. during practice
exercises or cleaning), fit the dummy insert into the
communication unit.
1. Make sure that the communication unit is switched off.
2. Make sure that the sealing on the insert is not damaged or missing
(see page 5, fig. D). Slightly lubricate the sealing with silicone
grease if necessary.
3. Fit the insert into the communication unit and screw tight (Allen key
2 mm, torque: 0.22 lbf ft / 0.3 Nm, see page 5, fig. E).
