General safety instructions

These instructions for use provide information for the proper use of the
communication unit. They are not a substitute for thorough,
appropriate training in the use of the communication unit. However,
they will help you understand the performance characteristics and
maintenance requirements of the communication unit, which, when
combined with appropriate hands-on training, will enable you to
properly use the device. The instructions for use must be strictly
followed to avoid injury or death.
For this reason, it is very important that you read, understand, and
comply with every aspect of these Instructions for Use, in addition to
receiving proper training, before using the device. Furthermore,
observe the Instructions for Use of the facepiece and the radio.
The communication unit may only be used for the purposes specified
in these Instructions for Use (see chapter 2.3 on page 11).
Do not dispose of the instructions for use. Ensure that the instructions
for use are retained and appropriately used by the product user. To
preserve the intrinsic safety of the communication unit, only
intrinsically safe accessories may be connected to it.
Only trained and competent personnel are permitted to use this
product.
Comply with all local and national rules and regulations associated
with this product.
Only trained and competent personnel are permitted to inspect, repair
and service the product as detailed in these instructions for use (see
chapter 5 on page 17). Further maintenance work that is not detailed
in these instructions for use must only be carried out by Dräger or
personnel qualified by Dräger. Dräger recommends concluding a
service contract with Dräger.
Dräger FPS-COM 7000
Use only original Dräger parts and accessories for maintenance work.
Otherwise the correct functioning of the product may be impaired.
Do not use a faulty or incomplete product. Do not modify the product.
Notify Dräger in the event of any product or product component fault
or failure.

Explanation of the warning symbols

The following warning signs are used in this document to indicate and
highlight areas of the associated text that require particular attention
by the user. A definition of the meaning of each sign is as follows:
WARNING

If not avoided, it could result in death or serious injury.
CAUTION

Indicates a potentially hazardous situation. If not avoided, it
could result in physical injury or damage to the product or
environment. It may also be used to alert against improper use.
