If the warning light starts to blink while
driving, it indicates that there is a
malfunction in the automatic transmission s
electronic control system. If the warning
light is blinking, see your dealer for service.
Automatic Transmission Fluid
Temperature Warning Light
For diesel vehicles, this light comes on
briefly when the engine control switch is in
the ON position, but the engine is not
running, as a check to show the light is
working. It should go out when the engine
is started.
The Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF)
Temperature warning light comes on if the
ATF temperature is high. This usually occurs
when the transmission is overfilled and may
be accompanied by leakage of fluid from the
transmission breather hose.
If the light stays on, or comes on while
driving, slow down and pull off the road.
Stop the vehicle at a safe place and put the
vehicle in P (Park) for models with P-range,
and N (Neutral) for models without P-range.
With the engine idling, wait until the light
goes off. If the light goes off, you can drive
the vehicle again. If the light does not go
off, have the automatic transmission
lubricating system checked by your dealer.
Caution
Driving with the ATF warning light
constantly on can cause serious
mechanical damage to the automatic
transmission.

Range Inhibit Warning Light

If the driver attempts to move the selector
lever from N to OD while the engine is
running at a high speed such that there is a
danger of sudden vehicle start, the control
system inhibits such a shift and turns on
this warning light. You must start the
vehicle moving only when the engine speed
is not higher than 1,000 rpm.
This warning light comes on when
attempting to shift from N to another gear
under any of the following conditions:
The engine is running at a speed higher
than 1,000 rpm.
The accelerator pedal is substantially
pressed.
The vehicle is in motion.
The transmission electronic control
system detects a fault and permits only
limited shifts.

Overdrive Off Light

When the engine control switch is turned
on, the indicator light comes on for
approximately 2 seconds and then goes off
automatically.
