leaking socket may never be used with the Unity™ System.
STRUCTURAL SPECIFICATION
Net weight: approx.110g including tube.
Frame construction: Carbon fiber frame
Clearance and dimensions: See IFU for Vari-Flex.
FITTING THE UNITY™ SYSTEM
note: To connect the system to a socket a Unity
recommended, the use of other applications is the sole responsibility of
the provider.
1. Fit the user with the foot containing the system
2. Cut the tube to a proper length and connect to the Unity™ System
and the socket (using the Unity™ Socket Valve kit)
3. Use the supplied tube fixture to secure the tube against the foot.
The tube should be located medially rather than laterally to avoid
damage during ambulation.
Once the Unity™ System has been connected make sure the pump is
working properly; creating vacuum during gait and not leaking air.
DISASSEMBLING / ASSEMBLING THE UNITY™ SYSTEM
The Unity™ System can be dissembled in case it needs to be cleaned or
for troubleshooting purposes.
caution: The Unity™ System should only be disassembled / assembled
by a clinical specialist.
HOW TO DISASSEMBLE THE UNITY™ SYSTEM
caution: The inlet and outlet (Figure 7) ports on the membrane housing
should not be disassembled unless absolutely necessary. This part of the
system contains miniature duckbill valves that are easily lost and can
cause the Unity™ System to malfunction if not correctly reassembled.
1. Use the Flex-foot shoehorn (or equivalent) to remove the foot from
the foot cover (Figure 9).
2. Disconnect the tube from the Unity™ Membrane housing.
3. Untighten the screw that fastens the lower and upper blade, remove
the screw (Figure 2).
4. Release the upper blade by sliding it towards the toe and release it
from the keyhole on the lower blade (Figure 3).
5. Remove the heel pad (Figure 4).
6. Rotate the upper blade to either side and separate it from the foot
(Figure 5).
7. Gently pull the membrane out of its housing by pulling the
aluminum insert sideways (Figure 6).
HOW TO ASSEMBLE THE UNITY™ SYSTEM
1. Lubricate the membrane before sliding it into the housing with
Iceross Clean&Simple spray or equivalent.
2. Mount the upper blade back on the foot and slide the membrane
insert into the lower blade keyhole.
3. Fasten the upper blade with the screw using medium strength
Loctite 243 or equivalent (tighten the screw with 2Nm torque) take
care not to over tighten the screw.
4. Snap the heel pad back in place.
