Notes on Using Your Tape Blade

SAFETY NOTES

This section provides notes on using the Tape Blade safely. Read this section carefully to ensure
proper and safe use of the Tape Blade. For symbols, see "SAFETY INDICATIONS" provided
earlier.
For part names described in the safety instruction chapter in this guide, refer to "Features and
Controls" in Chapter 2.
Do not use the Tape Blade for services where critical high availability may
directly affect human lives.
The Tape Blade is not intended to be used with or control facilities or devices
concerning human lives, including medical devices, nuclear facilities and
devices, aeronautics and space devices, transportation facilities and devices;
and facilities and devices requiring high reliability. NEC assumes no liability
for any accident resulting in personal injury, death, or property damage if the
Tape Blade has been used in the above conditions.
Do not disassemble, repair, or alter the Tape Blade.
Never attempt to disassemble, repair, or alter the Tape Blade on any
occasion other than described in this User's Guide. Failure to follow this
instruction may cause an electric shock or fire as well as malfunctions of the
Tape Blade.
Do not remove the battery.
Your Tape Blade contains the lithium battery. (Optional devices may contain
various type of batteries.) Do not remove the battery. Danger of explosion if
the battery is incorrectly replaced. Placing the battery close to a fire or in the
water may cause an explosion.
When the Tape Blade does not operate appropriately due to the dead
batteries, contact your service representative to replace the battery. Do not
disassemble the Tape Blade to replace or recharge the battery by yourself.
Do not use the Tape Blade if any smoke, odor, or noise is present.
If smoke, odor, or noise is present, immediately turn off the CPU blades and
disconnect the power plug from the outlet, then contact your service
representative. Using the Tape Blade in such conditions may cause a fire.
Keep needles or metal objects away from the Tape Blade .
Do not insert needles or metal objects into ventilation holes in the Tape
Blade. Doing so may cause an electric shock.
Use the devices only in the specified areas.
CPU blades and Tape Blade should be installed in the dedicated Blade
Enclosure for their uses. Do not install the CPU blades and Tape Blade in a
chassis other than the Blade Enclosure. Failure to follow it may result in fire
and/or electric shock to occur.
