Before use

Before you use the appliance for the first time, read the instruction manual
carefully and save it for future use.
The OBH Nordica steam insert fits all Supreme pots, 2, 3 and 6 litres. We
recommend that you put a lid on the pot in order to get the best and fastest
result (the lid for the 3 and 6 litres pots fits the steam insert).
Steaming preserves the taste and the colour better than traditional cooking.
Consequently, do not add salt until the cooking is done.
All raw materials that can be cooked in a normal pot can also be steamed.
The cooking times should be about the same for traditional cooking and for
steaming.
Steaming of vegetables
Pour water in the pot. Make sure that the water level does not reach the
bottom of the steam insert when you put it in the pot.
Prepare the vegetables by rinsing them and cut them in small pieces, if
necessary. Frozen vegetables do not have to be defrosted before steaming,
unless they are frozen lumps.
Note that small-size vegetables such as peas, may block the holes in the steam
insert and prevent the steam from rising.
Put the vegetables in the steam insert and lower the steam insert into the pot
with water. Put the lid on the pot and bring the water to a boil at the highest
temperature setting.
The cooking time depends on the product to be steamed, its size and how
much you want the vegetables to be cooked. Approximate cooking times
appear from the table later in the instruction manual. Check with a needle
whether the vegetables are done.
Steaming of fish
Pour water in the pot. Make sure that the water level does not reach the
bottom of the steam insert when you put it in the pot.
Prepare the fish by rinsing it if necessary. Frozen fish should be defrosted
before steaming.
Spice the fish if you want to and put it in the steam insert. Lower the steam
insert into the pot with water. Put the lid on the pot and bring the water to a
boil at the highest temperature setting. The cooking time varies depending on
the type of fish to be steamed and its size. Approximate cooking times appear
from the table later in the instruction manual.
