10.3.6 Cleaning the siphon
To extract the siphon (B) from the fixed body (A) remove the front panel (2) as described in chapter 6.6.1.
Remove the siphon and clean it. Check that the gaskets are undamaged and replace them if necessary. Fill the siphon with water
as described in chapter 6.7.2. and put the siphon back in the body (A).

10.3.7 Checking the burner and cleaning the heat exchanger
First check that the gas tap of the boiler is shut and that the boiler is not electrically powered then proceed as follows (refer to the
figure in section 4.3):
• Isolate the unit from the electrical mains (disconnect the boiler from the main electrical supply).
• Cut off the gas supply to the boiler.
• Remove the front panel.
• Disconnect the silencer. Re-insert in the boiler before placing back the gas-air unit.
• Open the protective cover on the top fan and remove all the plugs (see the figure in section 6.6.1.)
• Close the protective cover on the fan.
• Remove the entire air-gas unit, undoing the 4 M6 lock-nuts and undoing the 3/4 connector located under the gas valve.
• Check the ignition electrode for signs of wear. Replace the electrode if necessary.
• Check wear of the burner, gasket and insulation panel.
• Use a vacuum cleaner fitted with a special tool (accessory) for cleaning the top part of the heat exchanger (combustion
chamber).
• Also remove the end part (brush) to clean at depth.
• Check (for example, using a mirror) that there are no obvious traces of dust. If there are, clean more thoroughly.
• Use a brush with plastic bristles to clean.
• It is strictly prohibited to clean the combustion chamber with any unauthorised chemical products and, in particular, ammonia,
hydrochloric acid, sodium hydroxide (caustic soda), etc.
• Spray the surfaces to be cleaned with BX HT CLEANER with a suitable spraying device. Do not spray this on overly hot
surfaces (max 40 °C). Wait about 7-8 minutes, brush without rinsing, and repeat the application with BX HT CLEANER. Wait
another 8 minutes and brush again. Repeat this procedure until the surfaces are sufficiently clean (these products are available
as accessories belonging to the Baxi-BX line).
• Flush with water. The water flows out of the heat exchanger through the water condensate trap. Wait for approx. 20 minutes
then flush away the dirt particles with a powerful water jet. Avoid pointing the water jet directly at the insulating surface on the
back of the heat exchanger.
• The burner does not require maintenance as it is self-cleaning. Check the disassembled burner for any cracking and/or other
signs of damage. Replace it if necessary.
• Reassemble the burner following the above procedure in reverse order.
10.3.8 Hydraulic unit
Do not use tools to remove the components in the hydraulic unit (e.g. the filters).
For special areas, where the water is harder than 20 °F (1 °F = 10 mg calcium carbonate per litre of water), install, on the cold
water inlet, a polyphosphate dispenser or an equivalent treatment system, compliant with current regulations.
