The drive unit
The stairlift spring contacts (1) are incorporated in the charging assembly which is mounted under the drive unit.
The spring contacts on the drive unit are connected to the charge circuit on the control board.
The batteries are charged when the spring contacts of the drive unit make contact with the rail charging contacts.

The charging assembly has a anti raise pin (2) that prevents the seat being pushed backwards. The charging
assembly is also fitted with two forks (3) that slide over the rack on the rail and ensure that the brush contacts are
always properly positioned with respect to the rail.
The charge of the batteries can be checked by briefly pressing the E button on the service board. The voltage is then
presented on the display of the service board.
4.3.4

The rail charging contacts

To keep the batteries fully loaded, the stairlift must be positioned on a set of charging contacts. The charging
contacts are mounted on to the rail during manufacturing. With the installation the technician must ensure that the
stopping places are programmed at these positions on the rail. The lower charging contact is the start point of the
rail. This is recognized by the system since the polarity of this contact is opposite of the other charging contacts. This
is used for resetting the start position in the software. When there is no power the system does not see the charging
contact and the stairlift will stop at the start position determined by the pulse counter (see section 4.1.3).
