Chapter 3 – Safety Information

Lithium Battery Pack

A rechargeable lithium battery pack located within the product provides backup power for up to four hours.
The battery pack has an estimated life expectancy of five years.
The battery is not user replaceable. If it fails, the device must be sent back to MultiTech Systems for
replacement.
Warning:
To avoid fire, serious injury, and property damage, observe the following safety guidelines when
suing, charging, or storing your device.
For DC powered devices, always use the power supply provided by MultiTech to ensure the battery
charges properly. For PoE devices, use recommended PoE injectors.
Do not allow the device to come into contact with liquid of any kind. The device is not rated for
outdoor use.
If the device falls into water, put it in a safe and open area immediately. Maintain a safe distance
from the device until it is completely dry.
Put out any battery fire using water, sand, fire blanket, or a dry powder fire extinguisher.
Use the device in temperatures from -10° C to 45° C. Using the device below -10° C may lead to
permanent damage.
Do not use the device in strong electrostatic or electromagnetic environments. Otherwise, the
battery control board may malfunction.
Dispose of devices containing lithium batteries through electronics recycling. For information, refer

Shipping the Device

If shipping 2 or fewer devices, no labels are needed.
If shipping 3 or more devices, the outer package needs to contain a UN3481 label, which must include a
phone number. Additionally, the waybill must contain the following statement:
Lithium ion batteries in compliance with Section II of PI967
Equipment must be packed in strong, rigid outer packaging constructed of suitable material of adequate
strength and design to in relation to the package capacity and intended use, unless the lithium cells or
batteries are afforded equivalent protection by the equipment in which they are contained. Equipment
must be secured to prevent damage caused by shifting within the outer packaging and be packed so as to
prevent accidental operation during transport.
Maximum net quantity of lithium batteries or cells per package is 5 kg per package (excluding equipment)
for either Passenger and Cargo Aircraft or Cargo Aircraft Only shipments.
