Possible cause/consequence
The coolant is too hot.
The poly-V-belt may have torn.

Stop the vehicle. Pay attention to the traffic

conditions as you do so.
Switch off the engine.
X
Make sure that the airflow to the radiator is not
X
blocked, e.g. by snow, slush or ice.
Wait until the message disappears before
X
restarting the engine. There is otherwise a risk
of engine damage.
Observe the coolant temperature gauge
X
(
page 125).
Y
If the temperature increases again, visit a quali-
X
fied specialist workshop immediately.
Stop the vehicle. Pay attention to the traffic
X
conditions as you do so.
Switch off the engine.

Check the poly-V-belt.
X
If it has torn: do not drive on. Contact the
X
nearest qualified specialist workshop.
If it is not damaged: do not start the engine
X
again until the message disappears. There is
otherwise a risk of engine damage.
