Possible cause/consequence
At least one door is open.
The cooling fan for the coolant is faulty.
The battery is not being charged. Possible
causes are:
a faulty alternator

a torn poly-V-belt
R
a malfunction in the electronics
R
The battery is faulty.
The brake pads/linings have reached
their wear limit.
Practical advice

Close the doors.

If the coolant temperature is less than 120 †,

you can continue driving to the nearest quali-
fied specialist workshop.
In doing so, avoid heavy loads on the engine
X
(e.g. driving in mountainous terrain) and stop-
and-go driving.
Stop immediately and safely when traffic con-
X
ditions allow and check the poly-V-belt.
If it has torn: do not drive on. Contact the
X
nearest qualified specialist workshop.
If it is not damaged: have the vehicle checked
X
immediately at a qualified specialist workshop.
Pull over as soon as it is safe to do so.

Do not continue driving under any circumstan-
X
ces.
Consult the nearest qualified specialist work-
X
shop.
Have the brake pads/linings replaced as soon
X
as possible at a qualified specialist workshop.
