Starting the Sprayer Pump

1. Start the engine.
CAUTION: Be sure area is clear of
bystanders, then start engine.
2. Engage the header clutch switch in the tractor
cab (refer to the section on Header Controls in
the
Self-Propelled
Manual for the location of the header clutch
switch).
3. A red push button switch located on the
pedestal activates the pump from the cab.
4. There is an auxiliary switch located in the left
side pod near the spray system plumbing tree.
It can be used to engage or disengage the
pump when an operator is standing next to the
manual controls of the spray system plumbing.
5. Increase the throttle lever in the operator's cab
to half maximum engine speed. This will allow
the pump to prime quickly and provide
sufficient pump output for agitation.
throttle should be at full speed during normal
field operation.
NOTE:
To maintain optimum working
conditions for the spray system pump, loop the
conveyor drive pressure hose and connect it to the
conveyor return coupler on the windrower (refer to
the section on Attaching the Header in the Self-
Propelled Windrower Operator's Manual for the
location of the hydraulic hose connections).

Checking for Pump Operation

1. A red indicator light beside the pump activation
switch on the pedestal in the cab indicates if
the pump has been engaged.
2. The Spray System pressure gauge will display
the system pressure when the pump has been
primed.
If the pump is primed properly there will be flow
into the top of the tank through the "pump self-
prime line".
