Possible Causes of Failure
The following log messages may appear if Validator detects a time-gap between tags or if
tags "overlap" previous tags:
If a section of the audio stream does not contain watermarks for 10 seconds or
longer, the PCM-to-ID3 SDK does not generate an ID3 tag for that segment. A time
gap between consecutive tags would exist. The sequence numbers would be
consecutive, however, which indicates that no generated tags were dropped.
If ID3 tags are dropped in transmission or during the multiplexing process, a
sequence-number error accompanies the time-gap error.

Meaning
Under ideal conditions, a DATA tag spans 10 seconds. If 10 watermarks arrive in less
than 10 seconds, the tag-duration is shorter. A tag that is shorter than 10 seconds is not
considered faulty.
Regardless of the number of watermarks or EDUs, Validator reports a tag-duration error
for any tag that is shorter than 4 seconds or longer than 12 seconds. For a description of
EDUs, see "EDUs (Elemental Data Units)" on page 46.
Example
The example below shows Validator found two tags that were shorter than 4 seconds or
longer than 12 seconds. The test passed because Validator allows up to seven such tag-
duration errors.
Possible Causes of Failure
The following log messages indicate that a tag was too short or too long:
Release 1.8 Revision F
-52: Seqno Error and Gap in Tag Times (xx seconds): Sequence
Number xx, Tag time xx.
-74: Tag Time Error, Sequence Number xx: Tag overlaps previous
tag.
