Connecting PE3R to Laptop

You can connect your OSS PE3R expansion chassis to any laptop computers using an expresscard34 and / or Cardbus card. You need to identify
the type of slot available in your laptop . If you have an express card slot, you need to use an ExpressCard34 ( model: Ec34). If you have a
PCMCIA slot, you need to use a Cardbus card (model: CBH1F).
1. ExpressCard34 - use for Laptop with express card slot
2. Cardbus card - use for laptop with PCMCIA slot (This is no longer available).
IMPORTANT
Newer laptops do not have the express card and PCMCIA slots. If there is no express card slot or Cardbus card slot in
your laptop, unfortunately you cannot connect your OSS PE3R expansion chassis. There is no solution or workaround
Cardbus card is not supported on Mac Book (Mac OS) and laptops running LINUX or other flavors of UNIX and LINUX Operating systems.
5.1

Laptop Installation

1. Power down the OSS expansion unit.
2. Remove all the cards in the OSS PE3R expansion unit.
3. Connect the cable to expansion unit.
4. Connect the other end of the cable to Cardbus card or Express card
5. Insert the express card or Cardbus card to laptop
6. For express card, insert it to an express card slot
7. For Cardbus card, insert it to PCMCIA slot
8. To determine the slot in your computer, check the computer's specs, manual or user's guide
9. Turn on the OSS expansion unit
10. Turn on the computer
11. Check and verify installation (see Verify OSS Ec34 or CBHIF)
