Ensure there is sufficient ground clear‐

ance between the underbody and the
guide rails of the car wash.
Ensure that the clearance width of the
#
car wash, in particular the width of the
guide rails, is sufficient.
To avoid damage to your vehicle when using a
car wash, ensure the following beforehand:
Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC is deacti‐
R
vated.
The HOLD function is switched off.
R
The 360° Camera or the reversing camera is
R
switched off.
The side windows and sliding sunroof are
R
completely closed.
The outside mirrors are folded in.
R
The blower for the ventilation/heating is
R
switched off.
The windscreen wiper switch is in position
R
g.
The key is at a minimum distance of 3 m
R
away from the vehicle. Otherwise the tailgate
could open unintentionally.
In automatic car washes with conveyor sys‐
R
tems:
Neutral i is engaged.

If you would like to leave the vehicle while
-
it is being washed, make sure the key is
located in the vehicle. The park position
j is otherwise automatically engaged.
% To prevent damage to the tyres and wheels,
drive straight and in to the centre of the
guide rails of the car wash.
% If, after the car wash, you remove the wax
from the windscreen and wiper rubbers, this
will prevent smearing and reduce wiper
noise.
Automatic car wash mode
In car wash mode, the vehicle is prepared for
driving into the automatic car wash. Car wash
mode can be activated at a speed of up to
20 km/h Activate ( page 376).

The following settings are made when car wash
mode is activated:
The outside mirrors are folded in.

To prevent the windscreen washer system
R
from starting up automatically, the rain sen‐
sor is deactivated.
The rear window wiper is deactivated.
R
The windows and the sliding sunroof are
R
closed.
Mercedes-Maybach vehicles: the running
R
boards are retracted.
The air conditioning system is set to air-recir‐
R
culation mode.
Parking Assist PARKTRONIC is deactivated.
R
Vehicles with 360° Camera: the front
R
image is activated after approx. eight sec‐
onds.
Vehicles with AIRMATIC: the vehicle is
R
raised to the maximum possible chassis
level( page 269).

following message appears on the multifunc‐
tion display:
