Reversing camera
Function of the reversing camera
If you have activated the function in the multime‐
dia system ( page 288), the image from the
/
reversing camera is shown in the media display
when the reverse gear is engaged. Dynamic
guide lines show the path the vehicle will take
with the current steering angle. This helps you to
orient yourself and to avoid obstacles when
reversing.
The reversing camera is only an aid. It is not a
substitute for your attention to the surroundings.
The responsibility for safe manoeuvring and
parking remains with you. Make sure that there
are no persons, animals or objects etc., in the
manoeuvring area while manoeuvring and park‐
ing.
% You can open the cover of the reversing
camera manually ( page 288).

The guide lines in the media display show the
distances to your vehicle. The distances dis‐
played only apply to road level.
Depending on the vehicle equipment, you can
select from the following views:
Normal view
R
Wide-angle view
R
Trailer view
R
The area behind the vehicle is displayed as a
mirror image, as in the inside rearview mirror.
Vehicles without Parking Assist PARKTRONIC
The following camera views are available in the
multimedia system:
Normal view
1 Yellow guide line, vehicle width (driven sur‐
face) depending on the current steering
angle (dynamic)
2 Yellow guide line at a distance of approx‐
imately 1.0 m from the rear area
3 Yellow lanes marking the course the tyres
will take with the current steering angle
(dynamic)
4 Bumper
5 Red guide line at a distance of approximately
0.3 m from the rear area
