ONT Interfaces

The ONT supports the following interfaces:

"GPON Interface"

"Ethernet Interface"

"POTS Interface"

"Power"
GPON Interface
The GPON interface consists of a diplexer device for optical to electrical conversion. It
supports 1.25 Gbps GPON application as per ITU-T G.984.2 specification. Capabilities are:
• Full ITU-T G.984 Compliance
• FEC/AES
• DBA
• 6 T-CONTS
• Power Leveling
• Serial number discovery and provisioning
The diplexer transceiver is a physical device that connects the SFU to the passive optical
network. The transceiver consists of both a transmitter and a receiver. The following trans-
ceiver control and monitoring functions are provided:
• Received optical data power (1490 nm)
• Power Leveling
Ethernet Interface
The ONT supports data services through each 10/100/1000Base-T Ethernet interface via a
front access RJ45 style connector. The Ethernet interface meets IEEE 802.3 specifications
and is transformer coupled for 1500 V isolation. The connector has built-in indication LEDs
for data activity indications. Both full and half duplex modes are supported.
POTS Interface
The ONT supports basic telephone service through two POTS interfaces. Each interface is
supported by an Insulation Displacement Connector (IDC) and an RJ-11 jack. If the home
telephone wires are connected to the IDC connector, then the RJ-11 jack serves as a test
access point. In this configuration, inserting a telephone cable into the RJ-11 jack will
disconnect the ONT from home wiring and connect the ONT to the inserted cable instead. This
allows the home owner or service provider to diagnose ONT or home wiring related
problems. The POTS Interface feature set is listed below:
• 3 REN
• Loop start
• Loop supervision detecting and reporting
• Dial pulse reporting
