ESCRIPTION
The Total Access® 300 Series Small Business Unit (SBU) Optical Network
Terminals (ONT) are Gigabit Passive Optical Network ONTs. This Job
Aid describes the installation of the following ONTs:
Total Access 372 Small Business Unit ONT, P/N 1287722G1
Total Access 372R (2nd Generation) Small Business Unit ONT with RF
Overlay, P/N 1287722G2 (displayed above and throughout this Job
Aid)
The ONTs support the following:
(8) Eight POTS ports
(4) Four DS1 circuit emulated T1 interfaces (for PBX application)
(2) Two Gigabit Ethernet interfaces
(1) One RF Coaxial interface
The figure above illustrates the ONT inner enclosure for the Total Access
372R.
NOTE
The Electronics Module Safety Cover and Fiber Tray Cover have been
removed to show additional details.
Optical technology provides a consistent and common approach to
advancing the public communications network using:
Traditional telephone service [Plain Old Telephone Service (POTS)]

TELEPHONE TROUBLESHOOTING:
1. Identify the bad line (POTS 1-8).
2. Plug any working phone into
the appropriate jack.
If the telephone works, the unit
is functioning normally.
If the telephone does not work,
contact your service provider.
3. Remove the telephone from the
POTS jack.

The optical network consists of an Optical Line Terminal (OLT) located at
the central office and Optical Network Terminals (ONTs) located at the
customer premises.
To allow for the transmission of downstream and upstream traffic on one
single fiber, different wavelengths are used for each direction.
Downstream traffic uses 1490 nm, while upstream traffic is carried on
1310 nm. For RF TV distribution, 1550 nm is used for downstream and
1610 nm is used for the upstream RF return path. The ONT uses optical
diplexers to separate the wavelengths.

  • Page 4 2. Tie wrap the cable to the tie wrap points on the enclosure. 3. Attach the subscriber cable to the coaxial connector and tighten. Warranty: ADTRAN will replace or repair this product within the warranty period if it does not ADTRAN CUSTOMER CARE: meet its published specifications or fails while in service.
