Storage-only nodes have two additional data ports in the server that can be allocated
for dedicated SDS-to-SDS traffic in RHEL systems.
Such a pair of dedicated networks reduces the impact of a rebuild triggered by a node
or disk failure and rebalance operations when adding nodes or disks. This enables a
faster response to maintenance scenarios, while reducing the footprint on the other
networks that also service customer I/O.
You can expand the data network from two to four NICs in a RHEL storage-only
system using the AMS.
Before you begin
Ensure that two additional data ports are available on each server.
Procedure
1. From the System Settings menu (upper-right GUI), select System Settings.
2. In the System Settings pane, select Management and Data IPs.
The Set IP Address Ranges for Management and Data Networks dialog box
appears.
3. On the Data Network tab, select the Use maximum available NICs for
storage check box.
4. Add the IP addresses, ranges, and subnet mask for networks C and D, and then
click Save.
5. When the Success message appears, click Close.
6. From the System Settings menu, select Extend Data Network to 4 NICs.
The Extend data network from 2 NICS to 4 NICs dialog box displays the port
selections required for ports C and D.
7. Click OK.
The Extend data network from 2 NICS to 4 NICs dialog box displays the data
network NICs for all the nodes.
