2 TECHNICAL INFORMATION

2.1 COMPLIANCE TO DIRECTIVES

According to the Machine Directive 2006/42/EC theflange-connected gearbox is not classified as a
EN
"machine" by itsel but only designed to be matched to a prime mover and eventually incorporated into a
group of parts that result in a machine with a definite function.
Starting up the gearbox is not permitted unless the machine the gearbox is incorporated into is made
ompliant to the above mentioned Machine Directive.

2.2 OPERATING LIMITS AND CONDITIONS

Do not use the gear unit, in a potentially explosive atmosphere or where the use of explosion-proof
quipment is specified.
The gear units have been developed and designed for industrial applications.

3 SAFETY INFORMATION

Only specially trained staff equiped with the propriate tools and safety equipment is qualified to

handle the gear unit (as per local legislation). Oblivion of these requirements constitute a risk to
personal health and safety.
Use the gear unit only for the applications appropriated by the manufacturer. Improper use can

result in risks to personal health and safety and economic damages .
When working on the unit in hazardous or difficult to access areas, ensure that adequate safety

precautions have been taken for the operator and others in compliance with the provisions of
law on health and safety at work.
Suspending loads can fall down. Do not stand or step under suspending loads.


Rotating machine parts can pull in clothes and body parts. Keep a safe distance to rotating and
moving machine parts.

Machine parts and tools can be catapulted by rotating components. Remove all tools and secure
all machine parts before running the gearbox.

Gearbox heats up during operation. Do not touch the gearbox without protection or wait until the
gearbox has cooled down.
•
Lubricants can polute water and environment. Dispose lubricants appropriately.

4 HANDLING AND TRANSPORT

4.1 PACKAGING

The standard packaging, when supplied and unless otherwise agreed, is not proofed against rainfall
and is intended for shipping by ground and not sea, and for environments which are under cover and
not humid.
On receipt of the gear unit, check that the delivery item corresponds to the purchase
order and that it is not damaged or faulty in any way. Refer any nonconformity to your
