Terminology
Air/water heat pumps:
■ Natural cooling
is not available.
■ "Active cooling"
Cooling is effected by reversing the
heat pump operation. A high cooling
capacity is available.
Information on active cooling
The electricity demand for active cooling
is comparatively high as the heat pump
is in operation in addition to the circula-
tion pumps.
Cooling via a heating/cooling circuit
Cooling via the heating circuit, e.g. an
underfloor heating system, only occurs
when the outside temperature has
exceeded the cooling limit. The cooling
limit can be set by your local heating
contractor.
Mixer
A mixer mixes the heated heating water
with the cooled water returning from the
heating circuit. The water, heated to the
right temperature in line with demand, is
delivered to the heating circuit by the
heating circuit pump. The heat pump
control unit adjusts the heating circuit
flow temperature via the mixer to suit dif-
ferent conditions, e.g. varying outside
temperatures.
When cooling via a heating circuit, e.g.
an underfloor heating system, the mixer
keeps the temperature above the con-
densation point of the ambient air (dew
point). This prevents the formation of
condensate.

Natural cooling
See chapter "Cooling functions".
Standard heating/cooling mode
When you are at home during the day,
you can heat or cool the rooms in stand-
ard heating or cooling mode. Set the
periods (time phases) using the time pro-
gram for central heating/cooling.
Standard room temperature
Set the standard room temperature
when you are at home during the day
(see page 25).
Room temperature-dependent heat-
ing or cooling mode
In room temperature-dependent mode, a
room will be heated or cooled until the
selected set room temperature has been
reached. For this, a separate tempera-
ture sensor must be installed in a room.
The heating output or cooling capacity is
regulated independently of the outside
temperature.
Reduced heating mode
When you are out or during the night, you
can heat the rooms with the reduced
room temperature (setback mode). Set
the periods using the time program for
heating/cooling. With underfloor heating
systems, reduced heating mode only
brings limited energy savings (see
page 9).
In reduced mode, cooling is disabled.
