Resharpening Service:

All National Optronics carbide cutter inserts, barring disposable carbide inserts, are
entitled to receive two resharpenings at no charge. After two resharpenings, the inserts are
worn out of tolerance and need to be replaced. The normal resharpening turn-around time is
24-48 hours from receipt of the insert set at the factory.
Note: To assure maximum life through the resharpening process, it is important not to let the
inserts become too dull, as they tend to chip in the last stages of edge life. If an insert set is
too badly worn or damaged to be resharpened, a new insert set is sent as a replacement, and
is billed to your account. This is done to ensure that your lab is not short an insert set.
When an insert is resharpened, a notch is ground in the end to indicate that it has been
resharpened. Two notches indicate it has been resharpened twice and, if returned to the
factory, it will automatically be replaced with a new set.
When returning the insert sets to the factory, please follow these guidelines:
1. Replace them as sets in the original pouch. The inserts are extremely brittle and
will chip if allowed to hit each other during the shipment.
2. Enclose a slip of paper, P.O., or some other identification and ship (or mail) them
to the factory. This will allow us to provide better service.
3. Ship the cutters back in a box, not an envelope. This will serve to protect the
cutters sufficiently.
4. Indicate how you would like the inserts returned (i.e., UPS Next Day, Parcel Post,
FedEx). If not indicated, all inserts are returned UPS Ground.
