When using this Troubleshooting Guide, the steps within a given category should be
followed in the sequence given. Since this guide lists the most probable cause of a problem
first, it is best to follow accordingly. In some cases, a chain of tests makes the determination
of the source of the problem, and each one is dependent on the test prior to it.
Should your review of the Troubleshooting procedures neither solve your problem
nor indicate a necessary replacement of a specific part, please call the factory to speak with
one of our Technical Support representatives.
Under certain circumstances, it may be necessary to disable one or more of the
previously mentioned safety devices for diagnostic purposes. Any such action is NOT
intended for the purpose of operating the edger and extreme CAUTION should be observed
to prevent SERIOUS INJURY.
Some items that prove useful for troubleshooting purposes:
♦ hex key set that came with the machine, or a good set of Allen wrenches
♦ adjustable wrenches of various sizes
♦ silicone spray
♦ a digital multimeter (checks voltage and continuity)

LENS QUALITY:

Bumps on periphery:

LARGE BUMPS ON BOTH TOP AND BOTTOM:
A. The pattern tracking pressure is insufficient. Ensure that the tracking
pressure on the control panel is set at 35psi.
B. The Bevel Guide Wheel is set too high and is contacting the LEAP pad
or block. Verify that the BGW is locked in its proper position for
beveling, with the locating pin fully seated in the BGW slide block. If it
is, then confirm that the BGW is adjusted to be within 1-1.5mm from the
cutter insert.
C. The eye size is too small and the BGW is contacting the block. The
minimum "B" dimension that can be edged with the standard BGW set-up
is approximately 34mm. If a "B" dimension smaller than this is required,
the base curve tracking system should be utilized.
D. The pattern is too small and the pattern retainer is riding on the pattern
roller. The minimum "B" dimension of a pattern to be reproduced can be
no less than 25.5mm.
