SMALL BUMPS OR LIFT-OFF MARKS
The differential is closing too slowly. Follow the procedures in the
Maintenance Section for verifying Differential Flow Rate.

Incomplete Bevels:

THE UNBEVELED PORTION OF THE LENS IS HIGHER, OR LARGER, THAN
THE BEVELED PORTION:
The differential is closing too slowly. Follow the procedures in the
Maintenance Section for verifying Differential Flow Rate.
THE UNBEVELED PORTION OF THE LENS IS LOWER, OR SMALLER,
THAN THE BEVELED PORITON:
A. The cutter motor carriage flow rate is too slow. Follow the procedures on
Page 32 for verifying cutter motor carriage flow rate.
B. The differential is opening too slowly allowing the cutters to remove a small
portion of the bevel at the end of the cycle. Follow the procedures on Page 48
for removing and cleaning the differential flow restrictor.

Rough Finishes:

LINES ARE RUNNING ACROSS THE PERIPHERY OF THE LENS -
A. The cutter insert is dull. Install a new insert.
B. The cutter is unbalanced. Insure that the insert is fully seated in the cutter
body.
PIT MARKS LIKE TINY BUBBLES APPEAR AROUND THE ENTIRE
PERIPHERY OF THE LENS -
A.
The lens clamp is binding. The brass swivel of the lens clamp must pivot
freely in the clamp body, if it becomes contaminated with plastic debris, it
may cause the lens to vibrate against the cutter as it attempts to rotate. Use
alcohol to wash out the clamp removing any excess cleanser which may
attract more debris.
B.
The nose bearing of the cutter motor is bad. Replace the motor.
PIT MARKS ARE APPEARING ONLY ON THE CORNERS OF THE LENS-
Excessive gear lash in the lens drive assembly. Check lash play, as thrust
plate wear may necessitate adjustment. Adjustments are made through a set
screw and lock nut running through the rear of the Lens Drive Gear box. If
