Interpreters use the portable DC 5980 P to transmit simultaneous language interpretation of the discussion. Partici­
pants listen to their desired language channel on any microphone unit with a headphone output.
Set Up Interpretation Channels
1.
Begin by programming the portable DC 5980 P as an interpreter station.

Power on the unit by properly connecting it to the DCS-LAN chain.
2.
Press and hold the '-' and '+' volume buttons. The Speak light flashes to indicate the unit is ready for program-
ming.
3.
While continuing to press the volume buttons, press the channel button. Interpreter mode is set when both
channel LEDS are illuminated.

Select one of the two channels for audio transmission from the interpreter unit. The channel LED will illuminate to indi-
cate the selected channel.
Note: Multiple microphone units can be set for the same interpreter channel to support multiple interpreters at once.

Program another DC 5980 P for the second language and select the other channel for transmission.
4.
For each participant in the meeting, select the headphone channel that corresponds to the interpreter language. Listen
to the interpretation channels on any microphone unit with a headphone output.
Note: Flushmount DC 5900 F units are not programmable as interpreter units.

Troubleshooting

Attention: Always use shielded Cat 5e (or higher) network cables for reliable system operation. Ensure the right cables are
used and installed correctly before referencing the troubleshooting table.
The light rings on the microphone are
constantly flashing after the system is
powered on.
Example Setup for Bilingual Meeting
Check that cables are shielded Cat 5e (or higher)
Ensure that all the connectors on all the cables are firmly inserted in the sock-
ets on the units
Check that the feed cables from the microphone units are properly inserted in-
to the 'DCS-LAN' socket on the DIS-CCU.
