Calibration

The following steps describe the calibration of VESDA Sensepoint XCL detector using the Sensepoint App
(for details refer to section "5 Sensepoint App"):
1. Connect VESDA Sensepoint XCL detector to the Sensepoint App and set "Purge Time" to 180 sec.
2. Power OFF the smoke detector or switch to standby mode.
3. Remove the (red) Calibration Port plug and connect to calibration gas cylinder having a fixed flow
regulator (FFR) rated at 0.5 L/min
and stop the gas flow from the cylinder.
4. Follow the on-screen instructions on the Sensepoint App for Calibration:
a. Zero calibration: Expose VESDA Sensepoint XCL to ambient air – if there is doubt of the quality of
the ambient air, use a cylinder with clean air.
b. Span calibration: Expose VESDA Sensepoint XCL to the calibration gas. Where greatest accuracy
is required, the gas concentration should be around the alarm set point or 50% of the detector range.
If at the end of the purge cycle detector reading does not return to zero, repeat calibration with
detector disconnected from the pipe.
5. Following calibration replace the (red) Calibration Port plug.
6. Power ON the smoke detector or revert to normal mode.
CAUTION:
Always use a gas cylinder that is within its expiration date.
This section describes how to perform calibration using the control buttons of the VESDA Sensepoint XCL
detector. Before starting calibration, make sure that the VESDA Sensepoint XCL detector is powered ON.
1. Remove the detector module from the back box.
2. Activate inhibit mode by pressing and holding the UP button for 2 seconds. Make sure that the yellow
indicator is on.
3. Connect the positive probe of a voltmeter to the positive terminal, and connect the negative probe to the
negative terminal of the output voltage monitor.
