Remove filler panels
The front space into which you will install the shelf is usually covered by a filler panel. If one or more filler panels cover the space
where you want to install the shelf, use this procedure to remove each panel.
Steps
1. On the filler panel, slide the left and right securing tabs to the open position (towards the center of the panel).
2. Remove the filler panel from the cabinet.

Complete the following steps to install an ES30 expansion shelf or an FS15 SSD shelf.

Racking and cabling

EMC has adopted recommended racking guidelines.
To provide the best trade-off in terms of serviceability, system expansion, and cabling, mount the controller starting above the
first set of shelves in the rack—usually 13U for most systems.
You can connect the 2-meter cable attached to the controller to any shelf in the same rack. Install filler panels in unused rack
openings.
After your hardware is installed, route and organize cables by affixing them to the side of the rack to facilitate servicing.
Although you can plan for growth by leaving empty positions in the rack, this method is safe only if the rack is securely bolted to
the floor, or if the resulting configuration has a low center of gravity. When in doubt, do not leave empty spaces, and populate
based on the guidelines in this section.
