Warnings To reduce the risk of electrical shock, do not attempt to open the equipment unless instructed. Do not use a tool for purposes other than instructed.
Intergraph, refer to the instructions that came with it. CAUTION If you are using cables not supplied by Intergraph, you must use shielded cables to prevent excessive electromagnetic interference (EMI). Intergraph cables reduce the amount of EMI produced by the system.
Set up the system completely before you start the system. NOTE After setup is complete, refer to the Intergraph hardware documentation delivered with the system for startup and configuration instructions. Placing the System...
box can require 1 U or 2 U of mounting space, while a workstation requires five vertical units (5 U), or 8.75 inches, of mounting space. A vertical unit equals 1.75 inches and consists of three mounting holes. The mounting hole diameter is 7.1 mm (industry standard). Mounting holes are counted upward after locating the first mounting hole within the range of vertical units required to install the equipment.

Handle Bracket Handles 3. A rack-mount workstation or server requires 5 U (8.75 inches) of mounting space. Choose the five vertical units you need and mark the third and fourth mounting holes starting at the bottom of the five vertical units. Use a tape measure if you prefer that method of measurement.

6. Tighten the screws on the sides of the rack rails. Extend the rails from the rack until they lock. 7. With a person on each side, lift the base unit and align the rack rails with the rail guides mounted on the side of the base unit.

Ensure the circuit breaker on the AC distribution box is set to Off before connecting the power cord. NOTE All cable ports on the base unit, and on other Intergraph equipment, are keyed to ensure proper cable attachment. If a cable does not attach easily, ensure that you are correctly aligning the cable connector with the port.

Installing Additional Rack Equipment If you purchased a 1 U high AC distribution box from Intergraph, refer to the documentation delivered with it for unpacking instructions. To install an AC distribution box: 1. Install the AC distribution box at the bottom of the rack using the four screws and tinnerman nuts provided.
Starting the System When starting the system for the first time, refer to the Intergraph hardware documentation delivered with the system. WARNING If you are installing a server, do not turn on the system power until you are ready to configure Windows NT Server.
