5. Maintenance/Expansion

Drive Sanitization

*1: All of the host interfaces on the CM that will have maintenance performed go offline. When a multipath configuration is used, switch to
the host paths of the CM that will not have maintenance performed to continue operation.
*2: Bootup and Utility Device.
*3: Depending on the changes in the firmware, this function may require I/Os to be temporarily stopped.
*4: Mid Plane. This is a board that is located between the front and rear (controller (CM) or I/O module (IOM) side) of the ETERNUS AF.
*5: Operation can be continued during a failure. The status of the ETERNUS AF can be monitored via ETERNUS Web GUI or ETERNUS CLI.
Drive Sanitization
Drive sanitization is a function that deletes data in a drive using the sanitization function of the drives (SSDs).
The drive sanitization function can be used to delete user data when, for example, discarding drives.
Caution
The Maintenance Operation policy is required to sanitize the drives. Also, change the status of the
ETERNUS AF to the maintenance status.
