Use Windows HyperTerminal to enter command mode to

Check the phone and modem connection by using the AT$
command.
After issuing the AT$ commands, you may see one of the
following responses:
If the connection is good, the modem displays the number of
the cellular phone.
If the connection is poor and you have previously registered
the phone with the modem, the modem displays
PHONE DOES NOT RESPOND
If you have not previously registered the phone with the
modem, the modem displays
NO PHONE NO PHONE
Checking Signal Strength
Use Windows HyperTerminal to enter command mode and
NOTE:
check the signal strength of the cellular phone connection.
You can use the AT$SI command to check the cellular phone
signal.
A cellular phone displays a standard Received Standard Signal
Strength Index (RSSI) of between 80 and 255. If the RSSI falls
below 80, make sure the phone is in an upright position and near a
window. Do not place the phone down on a metal surface.
