Enabling/Disabling Hibernation

Hibernation is automatically turned on when you first set up the
computer. In order for Hibernation to work, it must allocate space
on the hard drive equal to the amount of RAM installed. You can
disable Hibernation to free up disk space. However, disabling it is
not recommended.
: If you upgrade memory, the computer increases the

Hibernation file size to accommodate the additional RAM. When
the Hibernation file increases, it requires more hard disk space.
To disable Hibernation, click Start Æ Settings Æ Control
Panel Æ Hibernation tab Æ Off.
To enable Hibernation, click Start Æ Settings Æ Control
Panel Æ Hibernation tab Æ On.

Exiting Hibernation

Select one of the following methods:
If Hibernation was user-initiated or a low battery condition has
been resolved, press the power switch to turn on the computer.
If the computer is in a critical low battery condition, insert a
fully charged battery pack or connect an external power
source.
When the computer exits Hibernation, the information saved to
the hard disk returns to the screen at the point where Hibernation
was initiated.
: To stop the restoration of information, press Ctrl+Alt+Del.
NOTE
4-10 Using Power and Power Management
CAUTION: If Hibernation is disabled, the computer does not
initiate Hibernation when a critical low battery condition is
reached. Instead, it initiates Suspend. When the battery pack
fully discharges, all unsaved data is lost.
