Modem does not identify modem cable correctly

Possible Cause
The internal modem identifies a non-U.S. modem cable as a U.S.
model if the cable is defective, from an unsupported country, or if
the path to the cable is defective (for example, the expansion base
I/O board is defective).
Solution
1 Verify that the cable is for a supported country. Supported
cables will have one of the following country abbreviations on
the back of the connector: AUS, AUT, BEL, CHE, DEN,
DEU, FIN, FRA, GBR, JAP, NLD, NOR, NZL, SWE, or USA.
2 Verify that the cable is fully seated into the 25-pin connector
on the right side of the computer.
3 If the problem occurs while the computer is docked in an
expansion base or convenience base, undock the computer and
plug the cable into the computer to find out whether the
problem is with the cable or the expansion base or convenience
base.
4 If the modem is still incorrectly identifying the cable, the cable
may be defective and should be replaced.
