Cleaning and maintenance

8.1

Daily cleaning

The DGM must be rinsed with cold water every day after use. Connect the inlet hose to a cold
water tap and rinse the instrument with the throttle valve (pos. 12) open and the handle (pos.
20) must be retracted to the open position. Close the tap and then move the handle by
depressing and retracting it several times. Flush again with the handle retracted.
If very sticky liquids are measured, special cleaning with a cleaning agent (as outlined in
section 8.2 A) must be carried out more often. This is to prevent deposit build-up.
Store the instrument in a cool location with the handle in open position.
The temperature of the storage location may not be lower than 0 ° C /32 ° F.

Monthly maintenance

Attention!
A.
Special cleaning
When traces of contamination remain after a thorough cleaning, the instrument must be partially
filled with a suitable cleaning solution.
For this procedure, connect the supplied hoses to the device and retract the handle. Next, pour
the cleaning liquid into the inlet through a funnel until the liquid flows out of the outlet. Collect
the cleaning liquid at the outlet in a suitable container. It is also possible to carry out a short
CIP. Leave the cleaning liquid in the DGM with the handle in the open position so that the
cleaning solution also cleans the inlet and the outlet of the appliance (and the oxygen sensor as
well in a c-DGM).
Suitable cleaning agents are: basic cleaning agents with an alkali concentration of 0.5% - 2%
(NaOH), intended for use at room temperature. Depending on the degree of contamination, the
time required for cleaning may be 15 minutes to several hours. After cleaning, retract the handle
and flush the instrument with clean water.
c-DGM/i-DGM
If any liquid is left in the DGM, the handle must always be in
the open position.
Maintenance must be performed by personnel who are familiar with
the applicable regulations for maintenance activities.
Use the necessary protection against chemicals and be extra
cautious with hot cleaning detergents.
