5.5.3 Electrolysis time

You can change the duration of the electrolysis time with the arrow buttons. When you press
"Enter", the cursor jumps to the following digit; if you press "Enter" again, you return to the "CO
formula/ prod.def." menu.
The default electrolysis time of 6 seconds is suitable for most beers and soft drinks.
If you suspect that too much or too little gas is released from the liquid during electrolysis, you
can test the electrolysis time as follows and adjust it if necessary:
1) Perform a measurement with the standard settings and make a note of the CO
content, the equilibrium pressure and the temperature.
You will find this data in the logbook (see 6.3).
2) Leave the handle of the DGM in the depressed position and go to the following
menu:
- Press and hold the "Enter" button for at least 3 seconds.
The main menu is displayed.
- Press the "Enter" button.
The input menu is shown.
- Use the down arrow button to select the "Calibration" menu and press the "Enter"
button.
- Use the arrow button to select the "Service screen" menu on the c-DGM or the
"Check P/T" menu on the i-DGM.
3) Now compare the pressure indicated with the measurement results. If the pressure
and temperature are correct, then continue with point 4.
If the results are not correct, then repeat steps 1 and 2 until the values are correct.
4) Shake the DGM in your hands to determine whether the equilibrium pressure has
been reached, and read the actual pressure and temperature.
5) If the pressure is still increasing, the electrolysis time setting is too short.
In this case, increase the electrolysis time and follow steps 1 through 4 until
shaking the unit no longer results in a pressure increase.
6) If the pressure does not increase, the electrolysis time setting may be correct or may
be too long.
To make sure the electrolysis time setting is not too long, shorten the electrolysis
time and follow steps 1 through 4 again.
If the pressure does increase after shaking, the electrolysis time setting was
correct.
In this case, restore the previous electrolysis time.
