Installing the Virtual Services Platform 8000 Series
Important:
Controlled hot swap is mandatory for 8402CQ ESM.
Procedure
1. Enter Global Configuration mode:
enable
configure terminal
2. Shut down the slot:
no sys power slot {slot[-slot][,...]}
Or
slot shutdown {slot[-slot][,...]}
Note:
slot reset command is not equivalent to controlled hot swap, and it is not sufficient
for 8402CQ module reinsertion.
3. Wait for ten seconds.
4. Remove the ESM from the slot.
5. Insert the new ESM in the slot.
6. Power on the slot:
sys power slot {slot[-slot][,...]}
Or
no slot shutdown {slot[-slot][,...]}

40G channelization

Channelization allows you to configure each 40Gbps QSFP+ ports to operate as four separate
10Gbps ports. You can use QSFP+ to four SFP+ breakout cables or QSFP+ transceivers with fiber
breakout cables to connect the 10 Gigabit Ethernet ports to other servers, storage, and switches. By
default, the ports are not channelized, which means that the 40Gbps QSFP+ ports operate as
40Gbps ports. You can enable or disable channelization on a port.
