back to open and straighten the ear canal. While holding the canal open,
slide the compressed foam ear tip into the ear canal. The foam should be
completely surrounded by the canal with virtually none of the foam sticking
out of the canal.

6.3.3 Use of adhesive EarCup couplers

An alternative for infant testing is the use of the disposable, adhesive
EarCups that surround the baby's ear. The EarCups are recommended for
those who want to perform binaural simultaneous screening tests.
To use the EarCups, remove the card with the EarCups from the package.
Insert the compatible insert earphone tube adapters into each of the
EarCups. Peel the EarCup off of the backing card and place it around the
baby's ear with the adapter tube positioned at the top of the baby's ear.
Gently apply pressure around the circumference of the EarCup to adhere the
EarCup to the baby's skin. Repeat this process with the second EarCup
placed on the other ear.
Be sure that the EarCup attached to the Right insert earphone is applied to
the right ear. Be sure that the EarCup attached to the Left insert earphone
is applied to the left ear.

6.3.4 Removal of disposables

After the screening, the electrodes and ear tips or EarCups should be
removed from the patient and discarded. These disposables are intended
for single-patient use only. Removal of the electrodes and EarCups may
cause some temporary discomfort to the patient.
