Incorrect Operation
When powered up, the PSC5000
Control Card does not complete
self-diagnostic.
All the Status Display LEDs are
turned on.
Immediately after powered up, or
after stop-all operation was
completed, all the Status Display
LEDs are turned on
instantaneously.
"LED Wire Broken" was detected.
"External Battery Alarm" was
detected.
"System Down" was detected.
"Communication Error" was
detected.
"CRC Error" was detected.
"Overflow" was detected.
"Error of Data for Revolution
Number of One Revolution or
More" was detected.
Troubleshooting
Table 6.1 describes possible causes and actions to be taken when the PSC5000
Serial Absolute Encoder Input Card II (S-ABS II Card) does not work correctly.
Table 6.1 - Troubleshooting
Possible Causes
The following causes can be
considered with regard to the S-ABS II
Card.
1. Connector pin of back plane is
broken.
2. Version number of the operating
system of the PSC5000 Control
Card is older than 1.31.
Correct communication data has never
been received.
For the time until the first
communication data was received,
verification of the LED operation was
performed. This is not problem.
Internal circuit of the encoder was
damaged.
The external battery voltage is lower
than specified value.
The internal and external batteries of
the encoder were lost.
Correct data cannot be received.
Correct data cannot be received.
The counter in the encoder for
revolution number of one revolution or
more overflowed.
Correct position detection cannot be
performed because rotating speed of
the encoder shaft exceeded allowable
limit.

Troubleshooting
Actions to be Taken
1. Repair or replace the S-ABS II
Card.
2. Download the operating system of
Version 1.31 or later.
Check the encoder power and
disconnection and noise of the
communication line, and confirm the
polarity of communication line.
-
Replace the encoder.
Establish the power supply. Note that
if you turn the main power OFF under
this condition, the internal battery
power will be consumed.
Check the battery voltages, and
initialize (reset) the encoder to clear
the error.
Check the encoder power,
disconnection and noise of the
communication line, and the polarity of
communication line.
Check the encoder power and noise of
the communication line.
Initialize (clear) the encoder to clear
the error.
Initialize (clear) the encoder to clear
the error.
