Prohibiting the I/O Monitoring Function
This chapter describes method to check operation of the Status Display LEDs and
prohibiting the I/O monitoring function.

Verifying Operation of the Status Display LEDs

The Status Display LEDs on the faceplate of the PSC5000 Serial Absolute Encoder
Input Card II (S-ABS II Card) are for alerting the user by being turned ON in red
when any error occurs. If the LEDs are defective, the user will lose the way to know
such warning from the appearance of the S-ABS II Card.
Therefore, verify that the LEDs work correctly, by using the following procedures.
1.
Turn power to the PSC5000 System OFF.
2.
Remove connecting cable from the Input Connector on the faceplate of the
S-ABS II Card.
3.
Turn power to the PSC5000 System ON.
4.
Watch all the 15 Status Display LEDs for several tens seconds for which
the PSC5000 Control Card performs the self-diagnostic.
During this period, all the LEDs must be turned ON. If any LED is not turned
ON, it is defective, and will not be turned ON even if any error occurs actually
during operation. In such a case, replace the S-ABS II Card as required.
5.
After verification is completed, turn power to the PSC5000 system OFF, and
connect the cable to the Input Connector.

Prohibiting I/O Monitoring

The S-ABS II Card prohibits monitoring by the I/O monitoring function supported by
the PSC5000 Programming Terminal. The I/O monitoring function is for allowing the
user to see the internal register values by setting the slot number and the desired
register number. With this function, it is also possible to change the set values of
the write-in registers.
Important: Do not view or change the register values of the S-ABS II Card by using
the I/O monitoring function.
While the registers of the S-ABS II Card are displayed on the I/O monitoring
screen, the absolute position data is not updated, or the displayed data is not
the latest but the data of the previous cycle.
