    Chapter 2: Description of Measurements, Controls and Features Chapter 2: Description of Measurements, Controls and Features Intended Use ® The SurgiVet V3404 Plus is a low cost portable ECG, pulse oximetry, respiration, and temperature monitor. It noninvasively and continuously monitors and displays arterial blood oxygen saturation of arterial hemoglobin (SpO ), pulse rate, plethysmogram, ECG waveforms and switches displays between temperature and respiration every five seconds.

    Chapter 4: Alarms Chapter 4: Alarms High Priority Alarms A high priority alarm warns you when a patient’s measurement matches or exceeds the high or low alarm limit for that measurement. For example, if the low SpO alarm limit is set to 92, and the patient’s measured SpO is 90, a high priority alarm is triggered.

    Chapter 4: Alarms Low Priority Alarms A low priority alarm warns you about a condition that prevents the monitor from taking a measurement. For example, if the SpO sensor is not connected to the monitor, the monitor cannot measure the patient’s pulse rate or SpO value.

    Chapter 6: Oximetry Patented Technology The monitor’s oximetry incorporates patented technology and noise reducing hardware to enhance the oximeter’s ability to detect pulse amplitude in patients with poor peripheral perfusion. Blood Pulse Detection Method Using Autocorrelation, patent number 5,558,096, analyzes a digitized signal, in real time, and compares it with previous pulse data.

    Chapter 7: Respiration Chapter 7: Respiration WARNING! This monitor is not for apnea detection. The monitor has not been tested or validated for use in apnea detection. Theory of Operation The V3404 Plus uses a thermistor mounted in the Luer–lock fitting to measure respiration. The thermistor is inserted into the tracheal tube adapter, to place sensor in the middle of the air stream.

    Chapter 7: Respiration SENSITIVITY Allows the detection sensitivity to be changed. 100 is the least sensitive, 10 is the most sensitive. The sensitivity can be adjusted in the Respiration menu.     Chapter 8: Temperature Chapter 8: Temperature Temperature Theory of Operation The V3404 Plus uses standard (YSI 400 Series) thermistors to measure the temperature of the patient. These thermistors have a large predictable variation of resistance with temperature. The monitor measures resistance of the thermistor in the sensor and converts it to the equivalent temperature in degree of Celsius or degrees of Fahrenheit as selected by the operator.

The time interval between tables is selected in the SERIAL OUT menu. Each line of text in the patient data table ends with a carriage return, line feed.
