5 FM/AM radio mode
Notes:
f
AM reception: Generally, strong AM
signals provide stable sound quality
with low signal noise. At night,
however, atmospheric conditions
may sometimes lead to interference
from other stations.
f
FM reception: The FM waveband
offers the highest sound quality;
however, the signal may be suscep-
tible to noise due to:
The limited reach of some trans-
mitters.
Distortion caused by signals
reflected off local buildings and
other obstructions.
"Shadow zones" wherein the
signal reception is obstructed or
restricted.
HD Radio (NAFTA only): HD Radio
f
Technology reception needs to be
activated to receive HD Radio
broadcasts. This enables you to
receive radio broadcasts digitally
(where available), providing a better
quality sound with clear reception.
When this feature is not activated or
HD Radio broadcasts are not avail-
able, you will receive analog radio
(AM/FM) broadcasts. For additional
information, please refer to the
section entitled "HD Radio trouble-
shooting" (page 31).
5.1 Listening to the radio
f If necessary, call up the main menu for the
desired area (cockpit, cabin area).
f In the main menu, touch the title bar of the
radio or media tile.
The source selection menu is displayed.
f If necessary, tap the Radio tab.
f Touch the desired waveband FM or AM.
The radio display is displayed and radio play-
back starts.

(1) Button
: Open the Source Selection
menu
(2) Current waveband
(3) Button
: Change frequency
(4) Indication if traffic announcement prio-
rity is switched on oroff
(5) Station info area
(6) Current frequency
(7) Button
: Change frequency
(8) Indication if the current station provides
traffic programmes
(9) Button
: show further memory presets
(10) Button
: Start seek tuning
(11) Button
: Start seek tuning
(12) Button
: Open the station list (FM
only)
