4. Installing the radio

4.1. Installing the radio using tie-wraps or hose clamps

To install the radio transceiver on a wooden or metal utility pole using tie-
wraps or metal hose clamps, do the following steps:
1.
Decide where on the utility pole the radio must be mounted,
taking access to the radio and line-of-sight into account.
2.
Place the radio against the utility pole at the chosen mounting
point (below).
3.
Route the two tie-wraps or metal hose clamps through the clamp
holes of the radio's mounting lug (below).
4.
Join the ends of the tie-wraps or metal hose clamps. Tighten the
tie-wraps or clamps just enough that the radio can be easily
moved in the horizontal plane.
5.
Aim and adjust the radio correctly. You can aim the unit in the
horizontal plane only.
6.
Tighten the tie-wraps or hose clamps until the radio assembly is
secure.
