SMART THERMOSTAT

FEATURES

The thermostat controller SMART THERMOSTAT is used to adjust the
temperature set point of mechanical thermostats in livestock buildings. It
can also be used as a backup ventilation system when no temperature
controller is detected. When the thermostat controller runs as a stand-
alone unit (i.e. when there is no main temperature controller), the SMART
THERMOSTAT controls the room temperature with 3 fan outputs, 1 heat-
ing output and 1 air intake (tunnel curtain or vent doors).
MAIN FEATURES:
STAND-ALONE BACKUP SYSTEM
The SMART THERMOSTAT starts operating as a stand-alone ventilation
system when one of these conditions occurs:
-
There is no communication between the main controller and the ther-
mostat controller for 2 minutes.
-
The main temperature controller has transmitted an invalid tempera-
ture set point to the thermostat controller – this happens when there
is a difference of more than 4°F (2.2°C) between two consecutive
set points. This situation causes a set point alarm.
When the thermostat controller operates as a stand-alone unit, it uses the
previous valid set point transmitted by the main temperature controller or
a user-defined set point.
AUTOMATIC THERMOSTAT ADJUSTMENT
The SMART THERMOSTAT reads the set point of the main temperature
controller on a regular basis. This way, if the main controller fails, the
SMART THERMOSTAT continues running using the previous valid set point
provided by the main controller. In other words, there is no need to adjust
mechanical backup thermostat anymore.
