C Assemble Mode - Alesis AI-2 Reference Manual

The OFFLINE key is used to release all ADAT transports from AI-2
control. The master ADAT will automatically assume control of the
slave ADATs.
Individual machines in an ADAT chain can be taken "offline" by
ejecting the ADAT tape. The AI-2 will detect when a tape is ejected
and if necessary automatically reassign the master transport. Do
not power down transports in the ADAT chain to take them offline,
this will prevent communication with ADAT transports further down
the chain.

7.7C Assemble mode

When controlling ADAT transports from a video editor or syn-
chronizer controller in assemble edit mode the AI-2 will automati-
cally put the ADATs in to format extend as each edit is assembled.
