14.2 Locking the Cutter For Transport

Transport lock pins are provided for the center phasing and wing lift hydraulic cylinders. When these pins are
inserted in their respective holes, they prevent the wings or center frame from dropping due to a hydraulic
cylinder being activated accidentally or from a hydraulic hose failure.
1. Fully raise the FX-742 and insert the center
lock pin as shown in Figure Ops-630.
2. Lower the machine halfway. The center section
will stay fully raised since the lock pin has been
engaged but the wings will lower halfway down.
Depending on your set cutting height, you may
have to remove some cylinder spacers to do
this.
3. Once the wings have been lowered halfway to
the ground, fold the wings into transport
position. Ensure the tires on the wings do not
touch each other or get compressed against
anything. If rear wing tires are touching or
compressed, use your height lift circuit to
adjust their position so they are not touching on
another or are compressed against anything.
4. When the wings are fully folded into transport,
insert the wing lock up pins as shown in Figure
Ops-631.
5. Ensure the center lift cylinder shown in Figure
Ops-630 is not carrying any load during
transport and that the entire load is being
carried by the lock up system. This is done by
making sure the cylinder is retracted enough
that there is a space between the cylinder pivot
arm and the rear wheel beam.
