Location Requirements

• A fume hood within 8' (2.5 m) of unit or adequate exhaust that pulls a minimum of 125 CFM at point of
connection
• Never install a MARS 6 inside a fume hood
• Provides adequate space for sample handling
• Has a dedicated, grounded outlet no more than 8' (2.5 m) from unit
• Is free from vibration of large equipment
• Designated area with a sturdy workbench capable of handling at least 200 lb (91 kg)
• The system weighs 140 lb (63.5 kg) without vessels
• Allows for easy access to the microwave and room for the door to extend fully at 20" (50.8 cm) and has
adequate space for optional computer or printer
• Adequate bench space
• Footprint of unit: 21" (53.3 cm) W x 25" (63.5 cm) D x 25" (63.5 cm) H
• Recommended counter space: 37" (94.0 cm) W x 28" (71.1 cm) D. Shelves or cabinetry above unit is not
recommended. This provides at least 8" (20.3 cm) of open space on each side and 3" (7.6 cm) of open
space in the rear of the instrument for ventilation

Equipment for Measurement, Control and Laboratory Use Part 1: General Requirements (CAN/CSA-C22.2 No.
1010.1-1992).
