Push handle 1 of the hood catch upwards

and lift the hood by approximately 15 in
(40 cm).
To close: lower the hood and close it with a
#
little force from a height of approximately
8 in (20 cm).
If the hood can still be lifted slightly, open
#
the hood again and close it with a little more
force until it engages correctly.
Engine oil
Checking the engine oil level using the oil
dipstick
& WARNING Risk of burns from hot com‐
ponent parts in the engine compartment
Certain components in the engine compart‐
ment can be very hot, e.g. the engine, the
radiator and parts of the exhaust system.
Allow the engine to cool down and only

touch component parts described in
the following.
Requirements:
The engine has been warmed up.

The coolant temperature is 176°F (80°C).
R
The vehicle is parked on a level surface.
R
The engine has run at idle speed for 30 sec‐
R
onds in the drive program A.
Check the engine oil level within two minutes of
switching off the engine.
Switch off the engine.

Pull oil dipstick 1 out and wipe off.
