Tape operations
2. Problem: The tape drive appears to fail during a
backup or restore operation.
• Remove and replace the cartridge. Then try again.
• Turn off the computer. Wait for the computer to
power down and then restart the system.
• Retension the tape, as described in the software
manual. Then try the operation again.
• Check to make sure all cables are securely con-
nected.
• Make sure you are using the correct type of tape
cartridge (see table on page 27).
• Try a different tape—preferably one that has never
been used previously.
• Clean the tape heads, as described on page 25. Then
try the operation again.
