TMC 188/40 Motion Control Module
To set up the WY registers:
1) Run TISOFT and put it in the ONLINE mode
2) Select CHART; select BLDCHT
3) Enter WY201 - WY208 (or whatever WY registers you are using)
4) Select CHGVAL to set the values for the 8 - WY registers. The values you enter are the addresses
of the V Memory locations and the checksum the TMC uses. The values in the table above are those
used in Delta‟s demo programs.
5) When you have entered all 8 values, verify the P/C LED on the TMC front panel is green.
Once the TMC finds a valid set of WY registers (including a correct checksum) it will not read them
again. Changes in the WY registers will not take effect until the TMC is reset or the power is cycled.
D) Start DCSMON
(See Getting Started, Step 3 on page 9)
Exit TISOFT and run INSTALL on the DCSMON disk to install DCSMON, then run „DCSMON /F‟. If
you prefer using TISOFT to configure your TMC, see GETTING STARTED AND MOVING THE
AXIS, Steps 3 and 4 on pages 9 and 10.
E) Move The Axis
(See Getting Started, Step 5 on page 10)
CAUTION: SAFETY IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY! This procedure will work for most simple hydraulic systems;
if you are unsure of the characteristics of your system, we recommend you consult a hydraulics
specialist.
1) With the drive output disconnected and the transducers connected, manually move the axis close
to the physical extend limit, being sure to leave some space for error. (Remember: Extending is
the direction that returns increasing COUNTS.)
Confirm DCSMON is in „write‟ rather than „read back‟ mode (a „W‟ rather than an „R‟ in the lower
right corner of the screen; press Ctrl-T to toggle the mode). Enter the ACTUAL POS. reading as
the value of the EXTEND LIMIT parameter.
2) Now move the axis close to the physical retract limit and set the RETRACT LIMIT parameter equal
to the ACTUAL POS.
