INSTRUCTIONS FOR LONG-TERM
STORAGE
1. Make any repairs and adjustments that
are needed.
2. Change the engine oil, and then let
the engine run for about 5 minutes so
that the oil goes through all parts of
the engine.
3. Inspect and perform any scheduled
maintenance that is due.
4. Apply a light coat of grease to any
parts that are likely to rust.
5. Ensure that the cooling system con-
tains the proper amount of antifreeze;
or completely drain the cooling
system.
6. Remove the drain plug and drain any
water from the clutch housing.
7. Inflate the tires to the maximum rated
air pressure
8. Disconnect the negative (-) battery
cable.
9. Remove all wheel weights and
counterweights. Remove or lower
implements.
10. Raise the tractor and install suitable
supports under the axles to keep the
tractor off the ground.
11. Store the tractor indoors or cover it
completely with a weather-proof
cover.
12. During long-term storage, charge the
battery by operating the tractor for
30 minutes every 2 months.
REMOVING THE TRACTOR
FROM STORAGE
1. Check the tire air pressure and inflate
the tires if they are low.
2. Jack the tractor up and remove the
support blocks from under the front
and rear axles.
3. Charge the battery, if needed; and re-
connect the negative (-) battery cable.
4. Check the fan belt condition and
tension.
5. Check all fluid levels (engine oil, trans-
mission/hydraulic oil, engine coolant
and any attached implements.)
6. Start the engine. Observe all gauges
and indicator lights. If all gauges are
functioning properly and reading
normal, move the tractor outside. Once
outside, park the tractor and let the
engine idle for at least five minutes.
Shut the engine off and walk around
the tractor making a visual inspection.
Check for leaks and malfunctions.
7. Restart the engine and allow it to reach
the normal operating temperature. With
the engine fully warmed up, release
the parking brake and test the brakes
for proper adjustment as you carefully
move forward. Adjust the brakes, as
necessary.
