5.4 Setting the shielding gas volume

For use with aluminium, copper, nickel and stainless steel wires:

Lay out
cable assembly straight, screw in contact tip or screw
rotating or repluggable torch neck including neck-liner made of brass onto
it.
2 Slide combi-wire guide containing the brass liner first through the BIKOX
cable assembly until a noticeable resistance is felt at the liner nipple of the
torch neck or the contact tip.
3 Slide clamp nipple, O-ring and nut onto PA liner and tighten the nut under
tension.
4 Mark overlength of the PA liner in front of the wire feed rolls and cut it off at
the mark using the ABICOR BINZEL cutter.
For use of steel wires with divided wire guide for changeable torch necks (T,
T8, TM, T8M).
1 Unscrew rotating or repluggable torch neck.
2 Screw contact tip into the tip adaptor.
3 Slide in neck-liner and shorten it at the end free of retaining nipple until it
flexibly protrudes 2 mm from the retaining nipple.
4 Debur the edge of the neck-liner.
5 Slide neck-liner through the torch neck as far as it will go and screw down
the gas nozzle.
6 Retighten the rotating or repluggable torch neck.
1 Join central connector and central socket at the wire feed unit and secure
them with the connection nut.
NOTE
• The type and quantity of the shielding gas depends on the welding task
and the gas nozzle geometry.
• Make all shielding gas connections gas-tight.
• To prevent the shielding gas supply from becoming clogged by
impurities, the cylinder valve must be opened briefly, before connecting
the cylinder. This will blow out any impurities that may be present.
